Cal Poly Pomona will host its Spring Career Day and Summer Job Fair on Thursday, April 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the University Quad. The event is free and open to the public.
“The hiring of college graduates in 2007 is projected to increase by 17.4 percent over last year's hiring,” says Tom Munnerlyn, director of the Cal Poly Pomona Career Center, quoting an employer survey conducted by the National Association of Colleges and Employers. He added the same survey found employers believe the biggest challenge in recruiting this year is competition.
At the Cal Poly Pomona career day, representatives from more than 200 leading companies will be on campus to recruit employees as well as answer questions and collect resumes.
Companies looking to fill full-time, part-time, internship and summer positions include: Anheuser Busch Companies Inc., the California Department of Real Estate, Fairmont Hotels, ESRI, Harrah's Casino Hotels, Johnson & Johnson, KCET-TV, Raytheon Co., Riverside County Sheriff's Department, Rick Engineering Co., Starbucks Coffee Co., Vons, Walt Disney Imagineering, and 93.1 JACK-FM.
Munnerlyn suggested jobseekers dress professionally, bring plenty of resumes, prepare themselves with a list of possible questions for employers and have a great attitude.
