Power Outage Update
Emergency personnel respond to an electrical substation where a subcontractor was injured Feb. 20.

Classes resumed back to normal Wednesday, Feb. 21, after power was restored to all buildings affected by Tuesday evening's power outage. Repairs were completed by 11:30 p.m. on Feb. 20.

Power was interrupted throughout several buildings at Cal Poly Pomona after a subcontractor was injured while repairing an electrical substation behind the Bronco Bookstore at about 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 20. Due to the power outage, evening classes were cancelled in five buildings on Tuesday evening.

Medic One, the Los Angeles County Fire Department and the University Police Department immediately responded to the scene.

The man is an employee with High Voltage Technical Services. He was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center in critical condition and then airlifted to Grossman Burn Center in Sherman Oaks.

Cal Poly Pomona is working with Cal/OSHA in the investigation.
