Ronald Muldrow, 57, taught Soul Music, Improvisation and Studio Guitar, |
Ronald Muldrow, 57, a former Music faculty member and legendary jazz guitarist, died Jan. 31 at his home in Los Angeles.
Muldrow taught Soul Music, Improvisation and Studio Guitar for the Music department from 2000 to 2006 and was widely liked by students and colleagues.
“He inspired our students greatly and they very much enjoyed working with him and learning so much about the story of R&B music,” said Iris Levine, chair of the Music department.
The former director of Cal Poly Pomona's Soul Music Ensemble had a career that spanned more than 30 years. He played with many jazz greats, including Dizzy Gillespie and Eddie Harris.
Muldrow's albums include: Mapenzi, Freedom's Serenade, Facing Wes, Diaspora, Yesterdays and Gnowing You.
