|Computer Sciences Professor Peter Laszlo|
Dr. Peter Alan Laszlo, 65, passed away Jan. 19. He was a professor of Computer Sciences at Cal Poly Pomona for more than 34 years.
Over the years, he made a lasting impression on students who often remembered him above all others when they returned to campus, his colleagues say.
Dr. Laszlo was regarded by colleagues as a brilliant academic and a demanding teacher who was once described as the gatekeeper for quality performance of the Computer Sciences student body. In addition to his demanding nature as a professor, he stood out with his massive unruly mane of gray hair and thin 6'6'' frame.
Dr. Laszlo is survived by two brothers, a sister and several nieces and nephews.
The Computer Science department will host a gathering to remember Dr. Laszlo on Thursday, Feb. 1, at noon in the College of Science conference room (4-2-314). All faculty, staff and students are welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served.
