The Hugh O. LaBounty Endowed Chair of Interdisciplinary Applied Knowledge, Charlene Teters, presented a lecture by tribal elder and spiritual advisor, Robert John Knapp on Nov. 21.
Knapp, who is a spiritual advisor, gave a native perspective on Thanksgiving.
Traditional people begin each day by giving thanks. The talk gave a present day perspective on the many ways of giving thanks with a special emphasis on the indigenous perspective. The lecture provided an authentic and respectful understanding of what is called the First Thanksgiving.
