Wellness, Cyber Security Fairs Focus on Healthy Living and Secure Computers

You can learn how to have a healthy heart and healthy hard drive in one trip to the Bronco Student Center on Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Wellness Fair and Cyber Security Fair.

The Wellness Fair's theme is “Investigating Your Health.” The event, which is organized by Student Health Services, is designed to help students develop healthy lifestyles and will feature more than 65 exhibitors in the Ursa Major suite. Participants can receive free health assessments and food samples. There will also be fun activities that challenge the mind like testing your X-Box fitness arcade skills.

The 2nd annual Cyber Security Fair's theme is “Hacking, Protection, and Investigating” and coinsides with National Cyber Security Awareness Month. The fair, which will also be in Ursa Major in addition to Ursa Minor, will have a series of presentations throughout the day as well as exhibitors and prize drawings.

Hundreds of attendees will receive a 256MB flash drive for filling out a survey and visiting exhibitor tables. Sponsors and exhibitors include the National Security Agency, Dell, McAfee, Microsoft, EMC, Eeye, Juniper and more.

Cyber Security Fair presentations will be in Ursa Minor.

They are:

  • 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. – Securing Your Home Wireless Network             
  • 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. – The Truth About Phishing and Malware             
  • 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. – Hacking Exposed Live!             
  • 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. – Microsoft Security and Vista Security          

The Cyber SecurityFair is being presented by the Cal Poly Pomona Title V funded project, “Improving Access to Information Systems at Hispanic-Serving Institutions, a Cooperative Arrangement.”
