Thousands of Students See Changes to Their E-mail
Most student e-mail accounts are now on the Exchange server.

Cal Poly Pomona's I&IT Division has moved most student e-mail accounts to a new Exchange cluster. The new e-mail system provides faster connections and more features than the Intranet e-mail students used until this summer.

As of Oct. 10, more than 50,000 users have been moved from Intranet to Exchange. Approximately 12,000 users remain on Intranet, but most of these are former students. Group e-mail boxes are currently still on the Intranet, but they will be shifted to Exchange in the next few months.

The new cluster enables the use of calendars and tasks for communication with faculty, other students or anyone who uses Exchange e-mail worldwide.

Connections can be made from almost any mail client, including Outlook, Outlook Web Access, Eudora, Thunderbird, Mac Entourage, MacMail and Pine

Students who were moved all received a notice in their e-mail clients connecting to the old Intranet (which is being redesigned). They were informed how to access the new Exchange server.

Students with questions on how to use the new Exchange e-mail may contact the Help Desk at 909.869.6776 or drop by in Bldg. 1, Room 100 during normal business hours or visit http://www.cpp.edu/~ehelp/email/exchange-faq.html
