Advancement Division Honors Johnson and Johnson with Ambassador Awards

Advancement Division Honors Johnson and Johnson with Ambassador Awards
Dave Johnson and Laura Johnson (of no relation) received University Advancement Ambassador Awards this fall.

This fall the University Advancement Division honored Dave Johnson, director of Judicial Affairs and dean of students, and one of its own, Laura Johnson, administrative coordinator of university events, for their outstanding work with the division.

Each were given Best Ambassador Awards for consistently going beyond the call of duty with exceptional service and support of University Advancement.

Nominations for the awards were sought from the entire campus community.

“Laura Johnson received multiple nominations,” University Advancement Vice President Scott Warrington said. “She is an incredible asset to the division.”

Laura Johnson has worked for Cal Poly Pomona for 20 years. Recently she has taken on the responsibility by organizing the Matthew Myers Memorial 5K Run/Walk, which was held Oct. 14 and attracted about 450 people to the university. She also organized the division's summer retreat at the Mission Inn in Riverside.

“I'm speechless,” she said upon being awarded. “This is such an honor to be recognized.”

For several years, Dave Johnson has been the unofficial producer of the division's Founders Celebration programs. He regularly goes above and beyond helping with university events such as Fall Conference, commencement and BroncoFusion.

Several advancement staff members recently surprised Dave Johnson at his office with the award.

“When large groups of people gather outside my office I get nervous,” the director of Judicial Affairs joked. “This is such a surprise and an honor.”

Each received engraved awards and a $250 gift certificate.
