Thousands of students, staff and faculty showed up Tuesday, Sept. 26 for free lunch and some fun at the 23rd annual Hot Dog Caper. Hot dogs, vegetarian hot dogs, chips, soft drinks and ice cream sandwiches were given away. Muslim students, who are fasting for Ramadan, were given coupons worth $2.50, courtesy of the Cal Poly Pomona Foundation. The coupons can be spent at eateries on campus through October. During the event, Stacy Clark, an up-and-coming artist with music featured on MTV's “Laguna Beach” and “The Hills,” performed. The Associated Students Inc.-sponsored concert was also designed to raise awareness for a Music Saves Lives blood drive on Sept. 26-27 in the Bronco Student Center. Those who donate blood will be given two free tickets to see Greeley Estates on Sept. 28 also at the student center. The Foundation, ASI, Facilities, Planning & Management and Pepsi-Cola Co. co-sponsor the tasty event as a way to bring the campus community together at the beginning of each fall quarter.
