Barbara Hacker has been appointed Associate Dean in the College of Engineering, effective Sept. 18.

Hacker first came to Cal Poly Pomona in 1992 as a chemical engineering professor. During the past 14 years, she has established herself as a highly-regarded educator and filled a variety of leadership roles, including Chair of the Chemical & Materials Engineering Department and Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs .

“Barbara's skills as a faculty member and administrator have been a great asset to our community,” said Provost Tomas Morales. “The College of Engineering is getting one of the best to serve in an important role for Dean Hohmann.”

In her new role as Associate Dean, Hacker will support the engineering departments in the areas of faculty development and evaluation; development of academic advising, learning outcomes and assessment plans; recruitment of tenure track faculty; implementation of diversity policies; and provide support for staff development, facilities and technology, and writing grants and contracts.
