Jerry Chesser |
Over the past year, the university has been engaged in a national search for the dean of the Collins School of Hospitality Management. After careful review and consultation from faculty, staff and campus leaders, we have elected to continue that search process.
Jerry Chesser, who has diligently served as the interim dean this past year and associate dean previous to that, has elected to leave his administrative position and return to teaching. I cannot say enough about Jerry and the marvelous work he did for the Collins School. There is a great sense of pride and achievement on the hill, due in no small part to his efforts and commitment. His skills as an educator and professional have only enhanced our students experience.
With the continuance of the search, I have asked David Klock, dean of our College of Business Administration, to also serve as interim dean for the Collins School. David's experience in the private sector will sync well with the efforts of our faculty in positioning our graduates for industry leadership. This appointment begins Sept. 1.
The Collins School stands as one of Cal Poly Pomona's most prestigious assets. Ensuring that we identify an exceptional individual to lead this team will be one of my highest priorities. Please join me in recognizing Dr. Chesser for his past and future service to the Collins School as well as welcoming Dr. Klock to this new role.
