A small fire consumed acres of dry brush near Cal Poly Pomona north of the 10 freeway. Flames erupted shortly after 1 p.m. on Friday. The Los Angeles County Fire Department is working to contain the blaze.
University Police are stationed in Parking Lot R to monitor the fire's movement. Traffic on the 10 freeway has been heavily impacted by the blaze. At this time the campus community should consider avoiding the 10 freeway at Kellogg Drive.
In addition, University Police encourage the campus community to watch for ashes and embers carried by wind from the blaze and to immediately report any spot fires to University Police at (909) 869-3070 or calling 911.
