The spring 2006 issue of Panorama is now accessible online. Published three times a year by the Office of Public Affairs, Panorama was created as a resource for alumni and friends of the university and is distributed to nearly 100,000 households.
The cover story, “Easing the Burden,” highlights ways Cal Poly Pomona is working to increase summer school opportunities, scholarships and the number of on-campus jobs for students to help them avoid the financial pinch many face while on the path to graduation.
Other stories in this issue highlight the College of Agriculture's animal-assisted therapy program; alumna Violet Palmer, the only female referee in the National Basketball Association; an award-winning nutrition bar produced by Human Nutrition & Food Science students that offers a tasty non-gluten option; and a husband and wife alumni team who have helped renew the historic Getty Villa Gardens.
