Join Assemblywoman Gloria Negrete McLeod (D-61st District, California) for a domestic violence legislative update and a free women’s self-defense clinic on Thursday, May 4, 7-9:30 p.m., in the Bronco Student Center’s Ursa Major Suite.
Currently serving her third term in the State Assembly, Negrete McLeod serves the Cal Poly Pomona campus and the entire city of Pomona, along with Chino, Montclair and Ontario. She will discuss the laws and resources available to help women protect themselves.
Cal Poly Pomona Police Lt. Dan Ponder will instruct the self-defense class, a high-energy, interactive course designed to make participants more aware of their surroundings and more confident with confrontation.
The event is hosted by the Stop Violence Office. There are currently 43 women signed up to participate.
