Annual Fund Callers Raise $50,000 During the Holiday Break
Annual Fund Director Nikki Khurana says calling for donations through the month of December when the rest of the university is closed has always proven to be a success.

This December, while the rest of the campus community took a break to relax and enjoy the holidays, University Advancement's Annual Fund callers were hard at work raising money for Cal Poly Pomona. In just 13 days, Annual Fund raised $53,640.

“The Annual Fund established a tradition of calling through the month of December when the rest of the university is closed, and it has always proven to be quite successful,” says Annual Fund Director Nikki Khurana.

Annual Fund kicked off the holiday calling with an 11-hour shift on Dec. 17. From Dec. 17-23 and Dec. 26-31, 16 students and two supervisors called 2,800 alumni, parents and even students.

Of the money raised, $19,410 came from students to support the Student Scholarship Endowment Fund, a scholarship funded by students for students. Annual Fund continues to call students this Winter Quarter in hopes of reaching its goal of $25,000.

Annual Funds top caller during the holiday season was Bryan Musslewhite, who brought in $12,000. Musslewhite has been an Annual Fund employee for more than three years. This past June, he earned his bachelor's in history at Cal Poly Pomona and is now working on his special education credential.

The Annual Fund provides essential monetary support to meet the university's growing need for scholarships, new equipment, departmental initiatives and other programs that enhance the quality of education for students.
