In what marks the sixth straight year of record-setting growth in online applications, 24,457 applications for Cal Poly Pomona admissions were received during the regular fall 2006 open enrollment period between Oct. 1 and Nov. 30. That total represents a 10.3 percent increase over the previous years online applications during the same period. Approximately 99 percent of all applications received at Cal Poly Pomona are submitted online. “We have received approximately 19,800 applications from first-time freshmen and about 4,500 applications from first time transfer students for the fall 2006 quarter,” says George Bradshaw, director of the Office of Admissions & Outreach. Once applications are received by Admissions & Outreach, they go through an initial electronic review process and then are reviewed one by one by the analysts in the office. “So far we have made initial decisions on about 13,720 applications, which is about 132 percent ahead of where we were last year at this time,” says Bradshaw. “We are aiming to have all initial decisions for first time freshmen completed by Dec. 20 and for all first time transfers by Feb. 1.” |
