James Ureta Carvallo, a lecturer in the International Business & Marketing department since 2000, died Oct. 15 after a traffic collision. He was 50 years old.
“This is a big loss and a sad day for our college and community as James was a valued, long-term member of our college family,” says David Klock, dean of the College of Business Administration. “The IBM department is especially saddened to learn of James's death as he was a very special friend, a respected faculty colleague and a top graduate of their program. He will be missed by his current and former students.”
Carvallo, an Ontario resident, died at Los Angeles County USC Medical Center of major injuries after a collision on Arrow Highway and Cucamonga Avenue in Claremont.
He is survived by his wife and 10-year-old daughter.
A memorial service for Carvallo will take place Friday, Oct. 21, at noon at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 900 W. La Habra Blvd., in La Habra. For more information, call (562) 691-0533.
