Flu Vaccine Update

Student Health Services has a limited number of flu vaccines available to the campus community this year. Those students, faculty and staff who are considered high risk will be vaccinated first.

High risk individuals include:

  • Adults aged 65 and older
  • People aged 2-64 who have long-term health problems with heart disease, lung diseases, asthma, kidney disease, diabetes or anemia
  • People with a weakened immune system due to HIV/AIDS, long-term treatment with drugs such as steroids and cancer treatment with x-rays or drugs
  • Women who are pregnant during the influenza season
  • Out-of-home care givers and household contacts of children younger than 6 months of age

The influenza vaccine will be offered to high-risk students only during the week of Oct. 17. Beginning Oct. 24, high-risk faculty and staff will be given appointments. The remaining vaccine will be offered to all students, faculty and staff beginning the week of Oct. 31.

Student Health Services will continue to provide influenza vaccine to the campus community until the supply of vaccine is exhausted.

There is no charge for students at high-risk. The cost to non-high risk students is $5 and the cost to faculty and staff, regardless of risk status, is $10.
