Dean Chetkovich, information technology specialist in University Housing Services, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 21, after an extended battle with cancer. He was 41.
“All of us who knew Dean are so deeply saddened by the news of his passing,” said associate vice president for Student Affairs Doug Freer. “His life was far too short. The kindness and generosity he showed us each day touched every corner of the campus community. Our thoughts and prayers are with his partner Tim and the entire Chetkovich family.”
A graduate of Chapman University, Chetkovich earned a bachelors degree in mathematics and computer science as well as a masters in computer science. He had served the university community since 1998, coming to Cal Poly Pomona from Data Connections, Inc. in Irvine. He is survived by his partner Tim Mountain and was a resident of Long Beach.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Oct. 8, at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Long Beach, 241 Cedar Ave. in Long Beach. For more information, call (562) 436-2256.
