About one-half of users who have their mail and calendaring stored on the Division of Instructional & Information Technology's central Exchange server have been restored. The remaining users are expected to be reinstated by Monday, Aug. 15. The outage started at at 8:44 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11. As part of the Exchange 2003 upgrade, I&IT moved email users to temporary hardware. This hardware failed yesterday during a time of heavy mail traffic. The plan was to move all users to the temporary hardware, upgrade the production hardware, then move users back to the production machines. I&IT is now accelerating the process of completing the Exchange upgrade on the production hardware and moving all users to the permanent servers. Systems technicians will be working to resolve this issue throughout the weekend. For further assistance and questions, contact the Help Desk at (909) 869-6776 during standard business hours. |
