Downtown Center Gallery Presents Quilling Workshop and Demonstration
The Cal Poly Pomona Downtown Center is presenting a workshop and demonstration of the ancient Renaissance art of quilling on Saturday, Feb. 5. Artist Ruth Brown, whose work is shown above, will lead the event.
Quilling is the art of rolling and folding thin strips of paper. The paper is put together to form shapes, such as stars, hearts and snowflakes.

The Cal Poly Pomona Downtown Center is presenting a workshop and demonstration of the ancient Renaissance art of quilling on Saturday, Feb. 5, at 3:45 p.m. Ruth Brown, an artist and resident of Claremont's Pilgrim's Place, will lead the event.

Quilling is the art of rolling and folding thin strips of paper. The paper is put together to form representational pictures and scenes, or can be formed into shapes, such as stars, hearts and snowflakes. The resulting art is intricate and looks much like lace.

The demonstration will take place at 3:45 p.m. followed by a workshop for all ages at 4 p.m. Cost to attend the workshop is $10 and includes basic materials for the class.
