Staff Council Donates Stuffed Animals to Needy Children in Pomona
Pomona Police Department's Lyn Ibanez, Pat Burson, Brenda Sutherland, Austin Davis and Teri Baker collect stuffed animals from Staff Council Vice President Becky Pepping.

This holiday season, Cal Poly Pomona's Staff Council collected more than 100 new stuffed animals for needy children. The toys were presented to the Pomona Police Department at Staff Council's Annual Holiday Gathering on Dec. 1 in the CLA's Heritage Conference Center.

Staff Council has collected toys, food and clothing for the Pomona Police Department and other community organizations, including House of Ruth, for more than 10 years. The police department distributes the toys to needy families in Pomona during its Santa Cop Toy Drive. Last year, more than 500 families received toys from Santa Cop.

President Michael Ortiz gave a welcome address at the holiday gathering, where he congratulated the group for its charitable efforts and stressed that Cal Poly Pomona staff members are the backbone of the community.

“Staff Council would like to thank everyone that brought a toy for the Santa Cop program and for coming and celebrating the holiday season with us,” said Staff Council Vice President Becky Pepping.
