Faculty, students and industry professionals are invited to attend the second annual Broadband Telecommunications Symposium, BTS 2004, on Friday, Nov. 19, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Bronco Student Center's Ursa Major Suite. The symposium is an opportunity to exchange information on advances in broadband telecommunications, networking technology, applications and management.
This year's featured speaker, Ralph Ballart, vice president of Broadband Infrastructure and Services for SBC Communications Laboratories, will discuss “Broadband Access and VoIP.”
The symposium is co-hosted by the Students With an Interest in the Future of Telecommunications (SWIFT), which is the university's student branch chapter of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Communications Society, and the IEEE Foothill Section.
Cost to attend the symposium is $15 general admission, $10 for IEEE members and Cal Poly Pomona faculty and $5 for students. Free registration is available for existing SWIFT members or new members joining at the door. Lunch, which will be served from noon to 1 p.m., is included in the registration fee.
