A tradition with the Cal Poly Pomona community, the 2004-05 academic year will launch with Fall Conference on Monday, Sept. 20. The event begins with an all-university breakfast and Convocation at 8:30 a.m. in the Engineering Meadow, featuring President Ortiz's State of the University address. The Service Awards immediately follow the Convocation at 10:30 a.m. in the Bronco Student Center Ursa Major Suite while the annual President's Reception concludes the day at 4 p.m. at the Manor House. Fall Conference will continue on Tuesday, Sept. 21, with various division and department meetings/open houses throughout the day. Check with your department and division for those times and locations. BroncoFusion, a daylong event to welcome new students to campus, will be held Wednesday, Sept. 22, from 9:00 a.m. to 6 p.m., in the Bronco Student Center and the Engineering Meadow, followed by evening entertainment. Thousands of incoming students will connect with faculty, staff and other students, get a head start on finding their classes, learn about key academic support services, buy books and explore ways to get involved. The day's events also include a welcome mixer, interactive workshops, campus tours and open houses. Coordinated by the division of Student Affairs and sponsored by all divisions, the Office of the President and Associated Students Inc. (ASI), the event will culminate with a welcome address from President Ortiz, a barbeque dinner and evening concert.
