Computer Virus Alert

A computer virus caused a large volume of forged messages to be sent on campus Monday, July 19.  In most cases the messages appear to be from people in the recipient's address book. The subject line is either blank or says Re: and there is usually a pass code in the body of the e-mail to open the accompanying ZIP attachment. DO NOT OPEN THE ATTACHMENT because that will spread the virus.

Instructional & Informational Technology staff members are analyzing the issue and will provide more information as it becomes available. Those who have already opened one of these attachments are encouraged to shut off their computers and get help from the department technician or from the Help Desk at (909) 869-6776. Those who have not opened the attachments should delete all suspicious messages and double-check that virus scanning software is up to date.
