After carefully considering a number of issues, including fall 2004 admissions requirements and the circumstances surrounding the state budget, the university has elected to cancel BroncoFest 2004. ?This was a very difficult decision,? said Interim Vice President for Student Affairs Gary L. Fredericksen. ?But when we looked at the changing nature of our enrollment and outreach programs, we felt that these resources would be better directed elsewhere.? BroncoFest has served as a primary vehicle to introduce prospective students to the many academic opportunities on campus, while showcasing excellence in the university?s student-centered programs. The Chancellor?s office has already directed Cal Poly Pomona to plan on a 5 percent cut in enrollment for fall 2004. The decision was unanimously supported by the Dean?s Advisory Council, the Office of the Provost and the University President. |
