Suspect Arrested for Alleged Carjacking and Sexual Battery Near University


A man suspected in a kidnapping, carjacking, sexual battery and arson incident that took place near the university last week was apprehended by the Los Angeles Police Department on Sunday, Jan. 25.

A 27-year-old Pomona man, was taken into custody after being involved in a traffic collision in Los Angeles. LAPD officers investigating the collision recovered stolen property from the suspect, which was later identified by the carjacking/sexual assault victim as her property.

Cal Poly Pomona Police responded to a call on Kellogg Park Drive on Jan. 22 at 9:22 p.m. This area is located between South Campus Drive and Valley Boulevard, just east of the university. A woman, who had been parked on South Campus Drive, reported that she had been abducted in her car and assaulted. She is not a Cal Poly Pomona student.

The suspect is being held by the Pomona Police Department on $1 million bail on suspicion of kidnapping for robbery, kidnapping during a carjacking, arson and sexual battery, according to police reports.
