UNIVERSITY SECURITY UPDATE

UNIVERSITY SECURITY UPDATE
The United States Government raised
the Homeland Security Advisory Status from Level Yellow (Significant Risk of Terrorist Attack) to Level Orange (High Risk of Terrorist Attack).

On Saturday, Dec. 20, Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge raised the Homeland Security Advisory Status from Level Yellow (Significant Risk of Terrorist Attack) to Level Orange (High Risk of Terrorist Attack). This was done in conjunction with a variety of justice department organizations as well as international sources.

Let me reassure everyone that our university has made every effort to be well prepared for any level of emergency. We have always made the safety of our faculty, staff and students our highest priority. I believe Cal Poly Pomona is one of the safest places to live, study and work.

I would also encourage everyone to be more observant at this time, both on and off campus. Paying closer attention to details we often take for granted can play a crucial role in heading off terrorist activities.

We have a great deal of emergency information available to everyone online. Procedures for any number of events can be reviewed at the emergency Web page. Campus officials are monitoring all national sources to provide university leadership with the best possible information, should the need arise. The purpose of this message is to inform you that we will move forward with business as usual at Cal Poly Pomona. All departments and offices will remain open.

Thank you for your continued commitment to Cal Poly Pomona.
