APEX is an annual awards competition providing recognition for outstanding publications from magazines and newsletters to brochures, annual reports and Web sites. The competition, which began in 1988, is open to professional communicators in corporate, nonprofit and independent settings. The awards are based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content, and the ability to achieve overall communications effectiveness and excellence.

APEX is sponsored by the editors of Writing That Works, the newsletter published by Communications Concepts Inc. for communicators who write, edit and manage business publications.

This year, the APEX award program received nearly 5,000 entries from throughout the United States, with less than one-third receiving recognition.
