For 25 years, the university's Motor Development Clinic has been serving the local community and children who need help with motor and social-interaction skills. To mark the clinic?s silver anniversary, the campus community and public are invited to celebrate the community service program through a fund-raising 3K-5K walk/run.
The event will be held Saturday, June 21, at 11 a.m. in the physical education field behind Kellogg Gym. Registration is $10 and available through the morning of the event. Sponsorships are also greatly appreciated. Forms are available online at www.class.cpp.edu/mdc/Anniversary.html.
The Motor Development Clinic is the longest operating community service program at Cal Poly Pomona. In its years of service, it has helped nearly 4,000 children from more than 36 local cities and trained close to 1,000 university students to work with children with disabilities. Organizers hope to raise $25,000 for the clinic to purchase much-needed equipment, endow a scholarship for needy families, and staff the clinic?s popular summer program.
