Dan Bridges Accepts Position as Dean at SBVCC

Dan Bridges, director of Athletics, has been named the dean of instruction for Physical Education and Athletics at San Bernardino Valley Community College. He will conclude his tenure with Cal Poly Pomona on July 15.

?I love the student-athletics, coaches and athletic department staff members of Cal Poly Pomona,? Bridges says. ?It is a wonderful team and I am extremely proud of what we?ve accomplished over the past three years. I?m also deeply appreciative of the many faculty members, parents and boosters who have supported us along the way.?

In his new position, Bridges will oversee the continued development of the SBVCC Physical Education and Athletics programs and help guide the approximately $4 million in physical education/athletic facility improvements the college has planned over the next five years.

During his three-year tenure at the university, the Broncos have enjoyed tremendous success. The women's basketball team won a pair of NCAA Division II national championships in 2001 and 2002 and the 2002-03 men's basketball team won the west regional and advanced to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight for the first time since 1964. In addition, the women's tennis team won its first CCAA championship since 1998, the volleyball team is coming off its finest season since 1997 and the men's cross country team had an individual conference champion for the first time since 1997.
