University Union Given New Look, New Name

The new University Union will also have a new name. Opening April 2, it will be officially known as the Bronco Student Center.

The name was selected following a campus-wide renaming contest conducted by the 2001-02 ASI Facilities and Operations Board. The ASI Senate approved the name change last spring, and university President Bob H. Suzuki authorized the change this fall.

As it has continued to do so in its 30-year history, the Bronco Student Center will unite students, faculty, staff, alumni and guests of the university by building a community through a centrally located facility that features diverse programs and services.

Upon completion next month, the new center will include an 11,000-square-foot fitness center, a theatre, a 500-seat food court, an 800-seat multipurpose room and additional meeting rooms. The new food court will offer a wide variety of dining venues, including Freshens Smoothie Bar, Wok and Rome, Strips and Chips, The Metropolitan Café, Pony Express, Stuffed Sub and Kikka Sushi and Noodle Bar.
