Music Department Presents Mozart Requiem

The Music department?s presentation of the Mozart Requiem, edition by Robert D. Levin, will take place Thursday, March 6, 8 p.m., at First Baptist Church of Pomona.

The event will feature faculty, staff and alumni performing with the Cal Poly Pomona University Chorus, Kellogg Chamber Singers and Alumni Choir, directed by Iris Levine, Music department chair; and the Chaffey College Concert Choir, directed by Gustavo Gil.

Levine will also conduct a full orchestra performance.

Solo quartet performers includes Susan Burns, soprano; Leberta Clark, alto; Jonathan Mack, tenor; and Tom Burns, baritone.

Mozart's Requiem in D minor, the composer's last and unfinished work, was commissioned by Count Franz von Walsegg, who wished to have it performed in memory of his wife as his own composition. In order not to forfeit the handsome commission, Mozart's widow, Constanze, decided to have the work completed in secrecy so that the finished version could be presented as her husband's final effort.
Admission to the performance is $7. The First Baptist Church is located at 601 N. Garey Ave. in Pomona.
