Three of Cal Poly Pomona?s College of Business Administration students received prestigious awards this month from the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), Los Angeles Chapter, for research papers on various topics pertaining to information systems auditing.
Maria Clarissa Fandino, a junior computer information systems major from Chino Hills, was honored for her paper on ?Intranet Security?; Tzong L. Lee, a master of science Business Administration-Information Systems (MSBA-IS) Audit graduate candidate from Huntington Beach, received an award for his paper on ?Computer Forensics?; and Jeff Cowherd, an MSBA-IS Audit graduate candidate from Pasadena, was honored for his paper on ?Enterprise/Operational Risk Management.?
?Its great to have student-written products judged by a professional association,? says Fred Gallegos, MSBA-IS advisor and coordinator of the computer information systems internship program. ?It demonstrates the quality, skills and capabilities of our students in research, critical thinking, analysis and writing.?
ISACA officials presented the three winners of its 2002 Best Paper Contest an award plaque and a $200 check for their academic excellence at the Nov. 12 chapter meeting at Kellogg West. In addition, the students have the opportunity of being published in the IS Audit & Control Journal and on the ISACA, L.A. Chapter, Web site.
?This contest has been in place for the past 23 years, and our students have won or placed in it 22 of those years,? says Gallegos.
