Sardinas , lecturer, Architecture department, recently designed and constructed a unique dining facility for Pomona College that was featured in an article in the Los Angeles Times Inland Valley Voice on Aug. 25. The facility is a functional greenhouse, built by Conley's Greenhouse Manufacturing in Pomona, that will double as a student cafeteria while Frary Dining Hall is being renovated. A ray of sunlight beams through the glass roof of the 4,000-square-foot greenhouse, where inside umbrella-covered tables surrounded by palm trees and plants planted in the ground can seat up to 250 people. Besides serving as a dining facility, the greenhouse blends a working greenhouse environment, human comfort and aesthetics.
