In Memoriam: Edward C. Hohmann, Jr.

Edward C. Hohmann, Jr., a former dean of the College of Engineering with a tenure at Cal Poly Pomona of nearly four decades, has died from complications from Alzheimer’s disease. He was 72.

Hohmann joined Cal Poly Pomona in 1971 as an assistant professor in what was then known as the chemical engineering department. Eight years later, he became chair of the department. In 1984, he became dean. He retired in 2010, earning him the distinction of being the longest-serving dean of an engineering college within the CSU system.
