Service-Learning Mini-Grants Up to $1,000 Available

Grant applications are being accepted for service-learning course project supplies, research and/or scholarship. Mini-grants up to $1,000 are available. A total of $12,000 in grants will be awarded. Applications can be emailed toclgonzalez@cpp.edu, faxed to (909) 869-4515 or hand-delivered to Building 1, room 108. Unsold Fall Books will be Shipped Back on 10/31

The Bronco Bookstore will start shipping back unsold fall quarter books (that have not been re-adopted for next quarter) to vendors beginning Oct. 31. Books for fall quarter may no longer be available after that week. Faculty should contact the bookstore ASAP if there are books in their course(s) that will not be used until later in the quarter. Bronco Bookstore Announces New Online Requisition System

The Bronco Bookstore has switched their textbook requisitions platform to Sidewalk Hero. Hero allows faculty to readopt previous materials or search for new ones, all in one place. It also shows current pricing on several different sites including the bookstore’s pricing. Faculty and department textbook coordinators can submit requisitions via the Sidewalk Hero online requisition system by going to the Faculty Resources page of www.broncobookstore.com, clicking on theSidewalk Hero link and then using their CPP login credentials. Graduation Writing Test

Remember to advise students to take the GWT.  If a student has completed 90 units they are eligible to take the GWT. If they have completed 120 units and have not taken the GWT, they will receive a hold.  The hold will restrict their ability to register for classes. To remove the hold, students need to register for the GWT through Bronco Direct and pay the test fee via BroncoDirect or at the Cashiers Office.  An e-mail will be sent to their Cal Poly Pomona e-mail account that includes information for the day of the test. For more information, visit

Staff Scholarship – Amelia Hammond Staff Scholarship Applications Now Being Accepted

Staff Council is excited to announce that Amelia Hammond Staff Scholarship applications are now available and due on Oct. 25. This scholarship is to assist staff members in career development or personal job improvement education. Staff Council is awarding a maximum of three $300 scholarships. Applications are open to all staff members employed by the University, Cal Poly Pomona Foundation, Associated Students Inc., Cal Poly Federal Credit Union and employees of the Alumni Association who have been employed for at least two years in a full-time or permanent half-time capacity.  Scholarships will be awarded at the Amelia Hammond/Staff Emeritus Ceremony on Nov. 8. Donations for Refugees

The Muslim Student Association (MSA) and the Asian and Pacific Islander Student Center (APISC) are accepting donated items for Syrian Refugees resettling in Pomona, Claremont, and San Diego areas.

Reminder about Change in Email Forwarding

Email forwarding to third-party services, such as Gmail or Yahoo Mail, is no longer available for campus (@cpp.edu) email accounts. The university began communicating the change in June 2015 and sent emails to students in spring 2016. Email forwarding for university employees ended in July 2015. Safety Recall on Samsung Note7 Smartphones

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced an immediate recall of all Samsung Galaxy Note7 smartphones because the lithium-ion battery can overheat and catch fire, posing serious fire and burn hazards. Samsung has received 96 reports of batteries overheating in the United States, including 13 reports of burns and 47 reports of property damage.

Phone owners are urged to immediately stop using and power down all Galaxy Note7 devices, including all Note7 devices recently issued or received as replacement devices. Samsung has instituted a new U.S. Note7 Refund and Exchange Program.

Reminder about Change in Email Forwarding

Summary: Email forwarding to third-party services, such as Gmail or Yahoo Mail, is no longer available for campus (@cpp.edu) email accounts.

When did this happen? The university began communicating the change in June 2015 and also sent out a number of emails to the student body in spring 2016. Email forwarding for university employees ended in July 2015 with the switch to Office 365. Forwarding for students ended in June 2016.

How will this affect me?  You will no longer be able to forward your campus emails to another service. To receive campus emails, you will be required to log in to Office 365.
