Donations for Refugees

The Muslim Student Association (MSA) and the Asian and Pacific Islander Student Center (APISC) are accepting donated items for Syrian Refugees resettling in Pomona, Claremont, and San Diego areas.

Reminder about Change in Email Forwarding

Email forwarding to third-party services, such as Gmail or Yahoo Mail, is no longer available for campus (@cpp.edu) email accounts. The university began communicating the change in June 2015 and sent emails to students in spring 2016. Email forwarding for university employees ended in July 2015. Safety Recall on Samsung Note7 Smartphones

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced an immediate recall of all Samsung Galaxy Note7 smartphones because the lithium-ion battery can overheat and catch fire, posing serious fire and burn hazards. Samsung has received 96 reports of batteries overheating in the United States, including 13 reports of burns and 47 reports of property damage.

Phone owners are urged to immediately stop using and power down all Galaxy Note7 devices, including all Note7 devices recently issued or received as replacement devices. Samsung has instituted a new U.S. Note7 Refund and Exchange Program.

Reminder about Change in Email Forwarding

Summary: Email forwarding to third-party services, such as Gmail or Yahoo Mail, is no longer available for campus (@cpp.edu) email accounts.

When did this happen? The university began communicating the change in June 2015 and also sent out a number of emails to the student body in spring 2016. Email forwarding for university employees ended in July 2015 with the switch to Office 365. Forwarding for students ended in June 2016.

How will this affect me?  You will no longer be able to forward your campus emails to another service. To receive campus emails, you will be required to log in to Office 365.

Earthquake Advisory and Preparedness

Due to a recent series of small earthquakes near the Salton Sea, the California Office of Emergency Services has issued an earthquake advisory for the next week covering several counties in the region.

Though the odds of a major earthquake along the southern San Andreas Fault remain statistically small according to the U.S. Geological Survey, the advisory is a reminder that Southern California is earthquake country and that emergency preparedness should be a way of life.

Cal Poly Pomona is prepared to respond to an earthquake, but it is always prudent to have water and a snack on hand, as well as a flashlight.

Cal Poly Pomona CSA Produce Boxes

The College of Agriculture is offering fresh produce boxes, called Poly Packs, to the university community. The Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) boxes will have 12 to 13 pounds of fruit, vegetables, herbs and other produce grown on campus for a price of $20 each. Boxes will be available bi-weekly with CPP’s fresh harvest pick, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the University Quad. Updates to Bronco Bucks/GET Login Process

GET, the online management system for Bronco Bucks, no longer requires registration. If you are an active Cal Poly Pomona student, faculty or staff member, you are automatically enrolled. Your Bronco Name and Bronco Direct password are all you need to get started. With GET, you can add funds to your Bronco Bucks account, order food from select on-campus dining venues and upload your Bronco ID photo. For more information, visit www.BroncoBucks.com.
