Toy Drive for Children’s Hospital

The Cal Poly Federal Credit Union is collecting toys for 9th Annual Christmas in July for Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital.  This is an annual toy drive presented by the Sons of the American Legion Post 155.

The patients of the Children’s Hospital will have a special visit from Summer Claus on July 17, 2016. Please help bring a smile to the face of a child/teen.  Drop off an unwrapped children’s toy (please, no stuffed animals) or teen electronic item at the Credit Union before July 8th.  Spread the July Christmas spirit!  For more information, visit

University Drive Road Closure July 5 through July 8

Commencing July 5 and through July 8, University Drive will be closed to all traffic for the complete removal and replacement of the asphalt concrete surface and restriping. The closure will affect University Drive between Temple Avenue and Eucalyptus Lane. In order to access the south side of campus — Ag Valley, the Collins College, Kellogg West, etc. — motorists will need to enter University Drive at its intersection with Kellogg Drive. New AVP for Operations in the Information Technology Division

Peter Deutsch has been named the new Associate Vice President for Operations in the Information Technology Division and will begin his new duties on August 1. Deutsch most recently held the position of Deputy CIO for Operations at UC Merced. He has also served as the Senior Director of IT for the Division of Student Affairs at San Jose State University and the Director for I&IT Systems and Networking at Cal Poly Pomona. In addition, he has held positions at Cisco Systems, Bunyip Information Systems and Lantronix, Inc. He earned his B.S. and M.S. at McGill University in Montreal, Canada.

Taking Orders for Pocket Facts

The Public Affairs Office is preparing to print the 2016-17 issue of “Pocket Facts.” The handy guide is one of the most widely used campus publications, serving a very broad audience including alumni, guests, prospective students and visitors. If your department or office needs copies of Pocket Facts, this is the time to order them. Email by June 28.


CEIS Hosts Genealogy and Ancestry Workshop

Professor and Author, Howard Jian Ph.D., will take you through his journey of ancestral research in the U.S. and China, and the relevance it has on his interdisciplinary general education and liberal studies teachings. He will also go over the importance of genealogy and provide tips on how you can trace your ancestry, identity, and cultural history. The event will be on May 26, from noon to 1 p.m. in Building 6, room 115. This event is open to all. For more information, contact Stephanie Rascon.

Learn to Play Golf
