Staff Council: All Star Outstanding Department Contest

Tell Staff Council why your department should be the All Star Outstanding Department of the year. The winners will receive a breakfast or lunch for their department. Winners will be announced at Staff Council’s Morning Reception during Staff Appreciation Week, Tuesday, June 14. Entry deadline is Tuesday, May 24. Summer 2016 Textbook/Course Materials Requisitions Due May 9 for Fall

The Bronco Bookstore needs faculty to submit requisitions for ALL required/recommended/optional course materials for fall quarter before registration opens, in accordance with the textbook information provisions of the Higher Education Act. It is very important for the university’s efforts to make textbooks affordable and accessible for all students that faculty and academic departments submit their course materials requisitions on time so the bookstore can provide affordable options and the Disability Resource Center has time to provide accessible versions of materials for students with print-related disabilities. Bronco Bookstore sponsors national “Faculty Watch” survey:

Bronco Bookstore, as a member of the National Association of College stores, has been invited to sponsor CPP’s participation in the first-ever nation-wide survey for the campus retail industry that investigates faculty’s attitudes toward the value of course materials, preferred formats, the adoption process, OER, and the role of the campus store. This survey is Faculty Watch, conducted by OnCampus Research and published by the National Association of College Stores. One respondent from our campus will win a $100 Visa gift card. Graduation Writing Test

If you advise students, remember to advise them about taking the GWT. If a student has completed 90 units, they are eligible to take the GWT. If they have completed 120 units and have not taken the GWT, they will receive a hold, restricting their ability to register for classes. To remove the hold, students need to register for the GWT through BroncoDirect and pay the test fee. Ted Pugh Poetry Contest

The English and Foreign Languages Department is accepting submissions for its 2016 Ted Pugh Poetry Award Contest. Presented annually in honor of CPP alumnus and poet Edward “Ted” Pugh, the prize carries an award of up to $200 for the best original poem or poems. It is open to all current CPP students, who may submit up to three original poems. The award will be presented at the EFL Outstanding Student Reception on May 24 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the BSC, Ursa Minor. An application form is required. Students should submit the application form and poems by April 29 to Deborah Escalante, EFL Department, 24-211, at daescalante@cpp.edu

Bronco Bookstore Textbook Department Closed for Inventory on Friday 4/29/16

The Bronco Bookstore is conducting our quarterly textbook inventory on April 29, and the 2nd floor will be closed. Textbook buyback will also be unavailable on April 29. Students who have not yet purchased textbooks or course materials that are needed for midterms or projects should purchase them before the store closes at 6:30 p.m. onApril 28. The ground floor supplies and general merchandise departments will be open regular Friday hours, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. After inventory is complete, the bookstore will begin returning unsold books to vendors on Monday, May 2.
