Cal Poly Pomona will play a significant role in the ongoing search for a new California State University chancellor.
After CSU Chancellor Timothy White’s October announcement that he will retire at the end of the 2019-2020 academic year, a search was set in motion that includes an upcoming open forum on the CPP campus and a role for University President Soraya M. Coley on one of the two committees conducting the search.
A listening tour by the CSU Board of Trustees Special Committee to Consider the Selection of the Chancellor includes open forums at five of the 23 CSU campuses. CPP will host one of those forums on Nov. 22 from noon to 2 p.m. in the Student Services Building’s multipurpose room (Building 121, rooms 1967-1969).
The trustees’ Special Committee is attempting to gather feedback from stakeholders and interested parties, information that will help guide recruitment activities for the next chancellor over the next several months.
The goal is to appoint a new chancellor in the summer of 2020.
President Coley is one of seven members of the Stakeholder Advisory Committee that will serve in concert with the trustees’ Special Committee. She is one of two campus presidents who will serve alongside alumni, student, faculty and staff representatives.
The Stakeholder Advisory Committee, along with the trustees’ Special Committee, will participate in the series of open forums on the listening tour, all of which will be livestreamed on the chancellor’s recruitment website.
