Rodney Short, the former director of enrollment technology for the Division of Student Affairs, died Aug. 26. He was 63.
Short, who had resided in Colorado Springs, Colorado, for the past six years, worked at Cal Poly Pomona for 27 years before retiring in 2011.
“It was a pleasure working under Rod at Cal Poly Pomona,” members of the enrollment technology team he supervised said in a joint statement. “We appreciated his kind, caring and soft-spoken manner in leading the enrollment technology team. The years as a team member under Rod’s leadership remains a fond memory in our careers with the university.”
Deborah Brandon, executive director of admissions and enrollment planning, lauded Short for his vision.
“Rod Short was a man who was ahead of his time and challenged those who worked with him to dream big and creatively,” she said.
Short is survived by Carla Short, his wife of 33 year; sons Michael of Colorado Springs and Maclean of Riverside; daughter Katie and her partner, Jason of Littleton, Colorado; sister Deborah Short of Long Beach; sisters-in-law Rhonda and Monique Anderson of Colorado Springs; brother in-law Greg McGrath of Riverside; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
