Earthquake Advisory and Preparedness

A magnitude 4.4 earthquake was reported in La Verne around 7:33 p.m. tonight. The Cal Poly Pomona campus is safe, and no damages have been reported.

If you are experiencing an emergency on campus, call University Police at 909-869-3070 or dial 9-1-1 from a campus phone.

In case of a major earthquake or other emergency, Cal Poly Pomona will send Safety Alert messages to the university community via text/SMS, email and telephone, as well as post messages on the university home page and Emergency Management website. Now is a good time to check your emergency contact information to make sure it is current so that you will receive the alerts.

The university is prepared to respond to an earthquake, but it is always prudent to have water and a flashlight on hand. The university’s Emergency Plan Summary and Self-Help Guide (PDF) is posted on the Emergency Management website. It lists the steps people should take before, during and after an earthquake.

Additional earthquake preparedness tips are available on Ready.gov.
