Portions of the walkway that start near the CLA Building stairs and extend to the University Library will be demolished and replaced in a project that will form a new pedestrian zone and create a landscape buffer.
Construction work is scheduled to start the week of June 11 with a projected completion date of Aug. 1
Portions of the current path will narrow during the construction process. The walkway outside the University Library provides a detour around portions of the project. Electric cart users will need to find detours around the project site because of the narrowed walkway.
Concrete near the stairs of the CLA will be torn up, but access to the building entrances will not be affected. Fencing around the Student Services Building site will be moved to allow work on the landscape buffer, which will consist of trees and other plants, adjacent to CLA to begin.
In addition to the walkway and landscape work, the project also will create an access road for emergency vehicles.
Detour signs will be placed around the walkway construction area.
The walkway project and Student Services Building are being overseen by the Department of Facilities Design & Construction.
