President Coley sent this message to campus Friday evening:
Dear Campus Community,
As many of you are aware, Cal Poly Pomona experienced a tragic event this afternoon. One of our campus parking officers was stabbed and killed while working at the Campus South facility. An individual identified as a suspect was later fatally shot by police officers at the Lyle Center for Regenerative Studies. Law enforcement officials are confident that there are no other suspects.
Many details are unknown at this point, but we grieve with the family members and loved ones mourning the loss of life today. On behalf of the Cal Poly Pomona community, I express gratitude to the University Police Department and officers from local agencies and other CSU campuses for their efforts in responding to today’s incident. We will be providing updates on www.cpp.edu as more information becomes available. Campus resources, including grief counselors, are available for any member of our campus affected by this tragedy (details below).
This is truly a sad day for our university family.
