With Cal Poly Pomona’s switch to the semester calendar only five quarters away in fall 2018 – colleges and departments are currently planning all remaining 2017 and 2018 quarter courses.
All course offerings for the remaining quarters – summer 2017, fall 2017, winter 2018, spring 2018 – are expected to be available for viewing in April. This planning will better allow students to plan their path to graduation, especially benefitting those who may be able to graduate before semester conversion. (Course offerings for summer 2018 will be available for viewing at a later time.)
Student action now is critical. In order to plan for the next 18 months, colleges and departments need to better understand course demand. It’s vital that students use MyPlanner, the course planning tool in BroncoDirect, to tell the university which courses are needed.
“We are committed to graduating as many students as we can before we transition to semesters, but we need help in identifying the courses students need, and more importantly, when students would like to take the courses,” says Terri Gomez, interim associate vice president for student success. “Since the remaining quarter courses are being planned now, if the majority of students use MyPlanner this quarter, we will be able to build a schedule several terms out that can meet student demand. This is critical partnership for student success.”
For course offerings to best reflect student demand, all students need to complete their MyPlanner this winter quarter. The aggregated data from MyPlanner will inform the planning process for colleges and departments, which is currently underway.
More information about MyPlanner, including a step-by-step guide, is available on the MyPlanner website.
