A tribute to veterans is set for Tuesday, Nov. 8.

Cal Poly Pomona will salute its veterans at a ceremony next week that is open to the campus community.

The annual Veterans Day event is set for Tuesday, Nov. 8 from noon to 1 p.m. in University Park. President Soraya M. Coley’s husband, Ron Coley, will be the keynote speaker. The 20-year military veteran serves as UC Riverside’s vice chancellor of Business and Administrative Services.

Gabriel Smith, Associated Students Inc. vice president, will be the student veteran speaker. He is a U.S. Army veteran.

The U.S. Marine Corps 3rd Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company will present the colors, and Cal Poly Pomona’s wind ensemble will perform.

The event also will include a resource fair from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., featuring several on-campus and off-campus organizations that provide services to veterans.

The center also will host a U.S. Marine Corps Birthday Celebration on Thursday, Nov. 10 from noon to 1 p.m. The celebration will be in the Heritage Room in Building 98 (CLA Tower) on the 8th floor. Lunch will be provided, along with birthday cake.

For more information about the ceremony or services on campus for veterans, contact the Veterans Resource Center at (909) 869-6994 or visit http://www.cpp.edu/~veterans/index.shtml.
