The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced an immediate recall of all Samsung Galaxy Note7 smartphones because the lithium-ion battery can overheat and catch fire, posing serious fire and burn hazards. Samsung has received 96 reports of batteries overheating in the United States, including 13 reports of burns and 47 reports of property damage.
Phone owners are urged to immediately stop using and power down all Galaxy Note7 devices, including all Note7 devices recently issued or received as replacement devices. Samsung has instituted a new U.S. Note7 Refund and Exchange Program.
In the event of fire or other emergency, please contact University Police at (909) 869-3070 or dial 911 from any campus phone. For emergencies occurring off campus, please contact your local police department.
