“It is an honor to have Dr. Carey be a part of Cal Poly Pomona’s fall Convocation,” says University President Soraya M. His previous roles in California have included senior partner at the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and chief learning officer for the MERLOT Open Ed Resource Network. In his faculty career, Carey was a tenured professor in computer science and a visiting scientist at the IBM Center for Advanced Studies in Toronto.

Convocation will begin with President Coley’s State of the University address. The annual Excellence in Service and Achievement Awards is set for 2 p.m., followed by a reception at 4:30 p.m. at the Manor House.
