The fourth annual campus-wide effort to raise funds and enhance the university experience for students starts Monday, Feb. 15.
The Campus Campaign, formerly called the Faculty and Staff Campaign, aims to tap the campus community, including current and former faculty and staff and emeriti.
This year, the Campus Campaign has been launched in conjunction with Student Philanthropy Week, a series of events and outreach organized by current students designed to raise awareness of philanthropy and the donors who give to Cal Poly Pomona.
“I believe we have an imperative to help others see the possibility of achieving the impossible through our renewed commitment to excellence,” says President Soraya M. Coley.
Last year, faculty, staff and emeriti surpassed the previous total and raised over $785,000.
“Giving to the campaign reminds me of the connections that are made through the stories students tell of their successes,” says donor Lorena Marquez (’03, business marketing, minor in multicultural leadership studies), coordinator of the Cesar E. Chavez Center for Higher Education. “It sparks my passion to give of my time, energy and love.”
Contributions can go toward a specific college, department, scholarship fund or program.
Gifts also can be made to areas of greatest need, which include the University Library (to fund the special collections, exhibitions and public programming), scholarships (71 percent of students receive financial aid) and the Division of Student Affairs (to support programs such as Renaissance Scholars and the Veterans Resource Center).
Another contribution method is a payroll deduction that allows gifts to be made over a 12-month period. Monthly deductions accumulate and can turn into a significant gift. The minimum amount mandated by the state is $2 per month.
Donors also can make a gift annually or several times a year by check (made payable to the Cal Poly Pomona Foundation Inc.), cash, credit card or online at www.cpp.edu/give. A recurring gift can be set up through the website.
