Assistant Music Professor Nick Vasallo has just completed his latest composition entitled “Ozymandias” and an accompanying video.
Vasallo’s composition was inspired by Percy Bysshe Shelley’s famous poem “Ozymandias” with structural decisions and drama delegated by his interpretation of the poem.
The video intersperses scenes from an award-winning 2012 short film, “Elefante,” with footage of two Bay Area music groups – The Living Earth Show and the Friction Quartet –performing “Ozymandias” near the Golden Gate Bridge.
Vasallo saw thematic similarities between the poem and Elefante and felt the film and music fit together like hand and glove.
Vasallo is the lead vocalist and songwriter for the death metal band Oblivion and a composer of contemporary classical music.
